Coastal roots
Inspired by cold mornings, crowded trailheads, and community beach cleanups.
Wave is a performance apparel brand built around a simple idea: the gear that helps us move should also help protect the places that move us.
The story begins with three friends in Santa Cruz: a product designer, a distance runner, and a marine educator. Their Saturday ritual was a sunrise training loop along the water, followed by a cleanup of whatever the tide left behind. The bags filled quickly. So did the realization that the activewear they loved was often part of the same waste problem they were collecting.
Wave's first samples were cut from recycled nylon and deadstock stretch fabric on a borrowed sewing machine. The goal was never to make delicate eco clothing. It was to make durable sportswear that could handle sweat, salt, repeat washing, and a packed day without treating sustainability as an afterthought.
Today, Wave imagines a full line of training layers, bras, tanks, shorts, joggers, and outerwear. Every fictional product is framed around long wear, lower-impact materials, and practical care guidance, because the most sustainable piece is usually the one you keep using.
